Amy Binns

Amy Binns is a senior lecturer in the journalism department of the University of Central Lancashire. Her main research interests centre around problematic behaviour on social media sites and forums. Her publications include Don’t Feed the Trolls! Managing Troublemakers in Magazines’ Online Communities; Twitter City and Facebook Village: Teenage Girls’ Personas and Experiences Influenced by Choice Architecture in Social Networking Sites; and Facebook’s Ugly Sisters: Anonymity and Abuse on Formspring and Ask.fm. She also has an interest in non-conformist history, and has written a book Valley of a Hundred Chapels: Yorkshire Non-Conformists’ Lives and Legacies and a paper on feminist pageants New Heroines for New Causes: How Provincial Women Promoted a Revisionist History through Post-Suffrage Pageants.
