Amy J. Bovin

Amy J. Bovin is a doctoral student at The University of Hartford’s The Hartt School pursuing her Ph.D. in Music Education. Previously, she completed the degree of Masters of Music in Instrumental Conducting at the University of Connecticut studying with Dr Jeffrey Renshaw and Dr David Mills. Bovin also earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music and her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Connecticut. In summer 2015, Bovin was chosen as one of three conductors from around the world to participate in the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy, and has received invitations to attend the International Conducting Institute and International Conducting Workshop Festivals. At the 2016 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, IL, Bovin received the Citation of Merit Award from Women’s Band Directors International for outstanding contribution to bands and band music. Throughout the school year, Bovin is a frequent clinician at conferences, festivals, workshops, other band programmes, and colleges and universities around the United States, giving workshops on rehearsal techniques, music education, women in music, conducting and band leadership. Bovin is the President-Elect for Connecticut Music Educators Association, the Connecticut State representative for Women’s Band Directors International, and a member of The National Association of Music Education, College Band Directors’ National Association, the National Band Association, and the American Bandmasters’ Association. She is also a past national officer of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Inc.
