Ana Bernstein
Ana Bernstein (Ph.D. New York University, 2005) is an associate professor of aesthetics and theatre at Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is a photographer, researcher and scholar who writes on performance theory, body art, gender studies and feminist theory, visual arts and visual culture. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Variations, Revista Urdimento and Revista Sala Preta, and contributed chapters to international and Brazilian publications. Her book A Crítica Cúmplice: – Décio de Almeida Prado e a formação do teatro brasileiro moderno was nominated for the Jabuti Prize. Her current research examines the relationship between contemporary art, feminism and activism.
