Andreas Steen

Andreas Steen is associate professor of modern Chinese history and culture at Aarhus University, Denmark. His main fields of research are in modern Chinese history and culture, with an emphasis on popular music and the music/cultural industry, more recently also including sound and memory studies. In addition to several articles, he has published Between Entertainment and Revolution: Gramophones, Records and the Early Record Industry in Shanghai, 1878–1937 (German 2006, Chinese 2015) and is currently writing a book on the history of the China Record Company.
