Andrew Krikun
Andrew Krikun is Professor of Music at Bergen Community College where he teaches courses in songwriting, musicology and music business. He received his MA in ethnomusicology from University of California, Los Angeles and his Ph.D. in music education from New York University, where his research focused on the history of popular music education in the American community college curriculum. His research on popular music education and community music has appeared in a number of peer-reviewed academic journals and book chapters and he has presented his work at conferences in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and China. In 2006, he received a Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Texas’s Community College Leadership Program. He is a board member of the Association of Popular Music Education. Dr. Krikun was the founder of the Los Angeles new wave band Andy and the Rattlesnakes and has composed music for film and theatre.
