Ángel M. Rañales

Ángel M. Rañales is a doctoral candidate in the Spanish and Portuguese Department at the University of Kansas. He received his degree in English philology from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and his master’s degree in Spanish literature from the University of Kansas. His doctoral dissertation focuses on medieval and early modern Iberian literature and culture, with particular attention to fifteenth-century Iberian chivalric practices and the court of Isabel I. He is also interested in how medieval narratives are revisited in modern times. He collaborates with La corónica Commons as assistant editor and with Digitus Indie Publishers as editorial member. He has published ‘“Su querer es obrar”: Cultura impresa salmantina y visualidad de santidad en Los libros de la madre Teresa de Iesus’ in Romance Notes and ‘Una discusión sobre el método de interpretación histórica de Quentin Skinner’ in La razón histórica. He has also co-authored a collaborative digital humanities project sponsored by the Kenneth Spencer Research Library focused on medieval Book of Hours and the art of devotion.
