Anna Tonelli

Anna Tonelli is full professor of modern history at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, where she also teaches history of political systems and parties. She is interested in cultural, political and social history (especially of the Italian Communist Party), with an emphasis on mindset, customs and recollections. Recent books include: Per indegnità morale: Il caso Pasolini nell’Italia del buon costume (Laterza, 2015), Gli irregolari: Amori comunisti al tempo della guerra fredda (Laterza, 2014) and Falce e tortello: Storia politica e sociale delle Feste dell’Unità (1945–2011) (Laterza, 2012). She is a member of the Italian Association of Modern History, scientific director of the Institute of Contemporary History in Pesaro, and on the advisory board for the International Centre of Gramscian Studies. She is also on the scientific board for Storia e problemi contemporanei, the advisory board for the contemporary history series Le ragioni di Clio, and is editor-in-chief of the journal Materialismo storico, to name but a few.
