Anne Wichmann

Anne Wichmann is Emeritus Professor of Speech and Language at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, United Kingdom. Her research focuses on English prosody, particularly intonation, and meaning, and is based primarily on data from corpora of speech, ranging from read or prepared speech to informal conversation. She has examined the role of intonation in structuring read-aloud texts, its role in disambiguating speech acts and in conveying emotion and attitudes.
