Annika C. Speer

Annika C. Speer is faculty in the Department of Theatre, Film and Digital Production at the University of California Riverside. She completed her Ph.D. in theatre studies with a doctoral emphasis in feminist studies at University of California Santa Barbara and a post-doctoral fellowship in communication at University of Connecticut. At UCR, she runs the public speaking programme and is the co-director for the public speaking initiative (a UC-wide programme that prioritizes interdisciplinary training in embodied communication and rhetoric). Speer conducts workshops for STEM programmes on the power of storytelling training with a mission of changing STEM into STEAM and garnering appreciation for the pedagogical potential of the arts. Her interest is to create collaborative and activist oriented theatre and she has worked as a dramaturgical researcher and script consultant for films as well as directed plays as fundraisers for Planned Parenthood, Women Help Women and Pacific Pride Foundation.
