Anouk Bottero

A former student of the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, Anouk Bottero has a doctorate in anglophone studies from Sorbonne Université, Paris, France, where she also teaches English. Her Ph.D. dissertation, ‘En-chanting bodies: Female performances in American musical theatre, from Cabaret (1966) to Fun Home (2015)’, explores the way female performances in post-‘golden age’ musicals allowed for redefinitions and reconfigurations of the genre’s utopian impulses. Her research now focuses on the Broadway musical as a ‘theatre of the margins’ and on Black American performance.
