Antonella Coppi

Antonella Coppi, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of General Pedagogy, Social Pedagogy and Music Pedagogy at the Faculty of Human Sciences, IUL University of Study Line, Florence (IT). Since 2003 she has been active in academic teaching and research and was programme director and lecturer for the Master in Music Education and Musicological Research at the University of Perugia. Today she is the president of both the Bachelor’s Degree Programme (L-22) and the ‘Comenius: Research and Education Centre of the University of IUL’. From 2016 to 2022 she was Junior Professor of Music Education at the Faculty of Education, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, where she presented and developed research on community music in Italy and published the first book in Italian on the subject (FrancoAngeli, 2017). In 2017–2019 she was a guest lecturer at the Brooklyn University of Music in New York (USA) and at the Academy of Music in Pula (Croatia). Since 2021 she is a board member of ‘Il Sistema inspired Programme in Italy’ and scientific board member of Mus-e Musique Europe. She has published numerous publications on community music and its application in Italy. Since 2008 she has been the national coordinator of the Italian network of university choirs and orchestras and has published two books on these topics (CLUEP, 2010; LIM, 2021 with Johann van der Sandt). Since 2000 she has been conductor of the choir and orchestra of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and delegate of the Rector of Music at the same university.
