Austin Hestdalen

Austin Hestdalen is a teacher–scholar of urban communication and media ecology whose work explores how meaningful experiences become situated within the complex and, often, contradictory contexts of communicative practice in everyday urban life. He recently defended his dissertation, entitled ‘Weathering the storm: Navigating urban ecologies of communication in times of crisis’, and is currently pursuing academic appointments in communication and media studies. Austin currently lives in Iowa City, IA, with his partner, Drue Denmon, where he continues to refine his scholarship by learning from those in the local area and studying works in creative nonfiction.
