Avyanthi Azis

Avyanthi Azis is a lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Universitas Indonesia, where she teaches in the subject areas of migration, development and transnationalism. Currently, she is pursuing her dual doctorate at the School of Global Studies (within the field of Peace and Development research), Göteborgs Universitet and Department of Political Science (with the Transnational Configurations, Conflict and Governance programme), Universiteit van Amsterdam. Detailing debt, intermediation and local migration governance as they relate to processes of state formation, her ongoing ethnographic work in the northern coast of West Java centres on Indonesia as a postcolonial migration state.
