Barry Nevin

Barry Nevin is Lecturer in French at Technological University Dublin and a Virtual Visiting Research Fellow at the School of Modern Languages in Newcastle University. His research focuses on representations of family, class and colonialism in French cinema of the inter-war period. He is the author of Cracking Gilles Deleuze’s Crystal (Edinburgh University Press, 2018), and his articles have appeared in journals including French Studies, Film History and SubStance. He is co-editor, with Aoife Connolly and Clíona Hensey, of a recent Special Issue of Contemporary French Civilization which focuses on cultural legacies of the Algerian War of Independence, and he is currently guest-editing a themed issue of French Screen Studies which centres on French cinema’s Tradition of Quality.
