Begoña Garrido

Begoña Garrido is a Ph.D. student at the University of Reading (Anniversary Ph.D. Scholarship). She also taught at this university for two academic years (2017–18 and 2018–19). Her research interests include historiography and personal narratives of the Spanish Civil War, exile and early Francoism in Bizkaia from a gender perspective. Her thesis focuses on Basque women and political repression, gender politics and memory under Franco. She is currently working on an intergenerational outreach project to bring the life stories of the exiled ‘children’ of 1937 to the younger generations of Basques.
