Bindu Menon Mannil

Bindu Menon Mannil teaches media studies at the School of Arts & Sciences, Azim Premji University, India. Her scholarship and research lies at the intersection of cinema and cultural studies, cultural history and cultural anthropology. Broadly, her work has been thematically located in a history of the early twentieth century and cinema publics in South India, audio histories, histories of media and migration. Her essays in these areas have appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Biography, Migration, Mobility & Displacement, Bioscope, Journal of Culture & Communication, Seminar-India and edited volumes. Her co-authored monograph on the Home Cinema movement in Malabar is under review and she is currently working on her manuscript tentatively titled Assembling Cinema in the Indian Princely State: Senses, Publics and History 1900–1950.
