Birgitta Hosea

Birgitta Hosea, Professor of Moving Image and Director of the Animation Research Centre at UCA Farnham, is an award-winning, expanded animation artist. Previously, she was Head of Animation at the RCA (2016–18); Course Director of MA Character Animation (2000–15) and Research Leader in Performance (2011–14) at Central Saint Martins, UAL, where she did her PhD. She has more than 25 years of international curating and exhibiting experience, e.g. Fission (co-curated with Drs ZHANG Xiaotao and LI Fei, 2022), Guangzho Provincial Museum, China, featured 44 international digital artists and reached 250,000 people. Recent exhibitions include ASIFAKEIL, Vienna; Venice and Karachi Biennales; Oaxaca and Chengdu Museums of Contemporary Art; Hanmi Gallery, Seoul; National Gallery X, Centre for Recent Drawing, London; Guizhou Provincial & Hunan Museums, China. Amongst publications on drawing and experimental animation, her most recent book is Performance Drawing: New Practices Since 1945 (Bloomsbury, 2020) co-written with M. Foá, J. Grisewood and C. McCall.
