Brendan Fay

Brendan Fay, Ph.D., is associate professor and associate director in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Southern Mississippi. His research centres on information history and the function of misinformation and conspiracy theories in military dictatorships, fascist regimes and other kinds of closed societies. Previous work has appeared in several journals, including Library and Information History, Cultural History, The Journal of Academic Librarianship and Information & Culture: A Journal of History, among others. His first book, Classical Music in Weimar Germany: Culture and Politics Before the Third Reich, appeared in 2019 with Bloomsbury and he is currently working on a second book manuscript examining the role of conspiracy theories in Nazi Germany tentatively titled The Power of Conspiracy: Nazi Information Worlds Between Weimar and the Third Reich.
