Brian Michael Goss
Brian Michael Goss (Ph.D., University of Illinois, 2000) has been appointed as associate professor in the Department of Communication at Saint Louis University’s Madrid campus. His teaching and research in mass media have long mutually enriched each other and implicate texts and the structuring structures of contexts vis-à-vis journalism, film, television, cartoons, popular magazines and blogs across a number of countries. Along with publishing more than 40 journal articles and book chapters, he is the author of three books: The Rise of Weaponized Flak in the New Media Era: Beyond the Propaganda Model (Peter Lang, 2020), Rebooting the Herman and Chomsky Propaganda Model in the Twenty-First Century (Peter Lang, 2013) and Global Auteurs: Politics in the Films of Almodóvar, von Trier and Winterbottom (Peter Lang, 2009). He is also the co-editor of Talking Back to Globalization (with Mary Rachel Gould and Joan Pedro-Carañana, Peter Lang, 2016) and Identity: Beyond Tradition and McWorld Neoliberalism (Cambridge Scholars Press, 2013, with Christopher Chávez). He has visited 44 of Spain’s 48 peninsular provinces with ambitions to visit them all.
