Carla A. Litchfield

Associate Professor Carla Litchfield (Ph.D.) is the head of Psychology and the Conservation Psychology and Applied Animal Behaviour Research Group and part of the leadership team of the Behaviour-Brain-Body Research Centre at the University of South Australia. Her primary research area is conservation psychology, applying principles of psychology to issues such as animal psychological and physical well-being, illegal wildlife trade and promoting the use of behaviour-change principles to global and local conservation issues (e.g. mobile phone recycling, palm oil consumption, water conservation) in a way that moves beyond traditional economic and ecological modelling and encourages listening to other experts (e.g. children, local communities).
