Caroline Powley
Caroline Powley is a graphic designer and academic. She is a senior lecturer in communication design at Auckland University of Technology and has also worked for a range of clients, design studios and advertising agencies, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Her research explores interpretive and generative design processes, with a focus on the relationship between typography and place. Design research outputs include experimental type design, printmaking and publication design. Recent works by Caroline include: ‘Self help, sunlight and a modern chair: Considering Auckland’s historic signage as a heritage object’ (Back Story, 2020); Huarere: Weather Eye, Weather Ear (Te Tuhi, 2023).
