Carolyn Walcott

Carolyn Walcott is an assistant professor at Clayton State University, Morrow, Georgia, where she teaches intercultural communication, public speaking, media and culture and communication law, ethics and diversity. A Guyanese by birth and former journalist, Carolyn has a diverse background in journalism education, international communication and media development. Her research agenda focuses on media pedagogy and practice, national identity, rhetoric and political communication. You can find some of her publications in ‘Convergences of southern identity and the Global South’ (Chapter 10) in Reconstructing Southern Rhetoric (University Press of Mississippi, 2021), ‘Decolonizing regions’ in Rhetoric and Public Affairs, Special Issue (2021) and in IGI Global’s Multidisciplinary Issues Surrounding African Diasporas (2019). Carolyn received her undergraduate degree in communication and graduate diploma in international studies at the University of Guyana and completed her MA in communication and development at Ohio University. She obtained her Ph.D. in communication at Georgia State University.
