Cathy Smilan
Cathy Smilan is professor of art education and MAE Graduate Programme director. Her pedagogical goals aim to empower teachers through a pedagogy of discomfort, preparing them to help students identify significant issues in society and develop action plans for visualizing change. Research interests include art integration, social justice art education, feminist perspectives, and developing social-emotional resiliency through confronting and transforming difficult content.
