Catriona McAra

Dr Catriona McAra is a lecturer in modern and contemporary art history at the University of Aberdeen. She is particularly interested in revisionary historiography and feminist-surrealist legacies in early twenty-first century art and literary practices. She is author of A Surrealist Stratigraphy of Dorothea Tanning’s Chasm (Routledge, 2017) and The Medium of Leonora Carrington (Manchester University Press, 2022). Catriona’s articles include ‘Witch milk: Samantha Sweeting’s lactation narratives’ in ASAP Journal (2016) and ‘Hope chest: Demythologizing girlhood in Kate Bernheimer’s trilogy’ in Girlhood Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal (2017).
