Cecilia Brioni

Cecilia Brioni is an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland postdoctoral fellow and research fellow in Italian at Trinity College Dublin. Her research explores media representations of Italian youth across time in a variety of popular media. In particular, she has analysed representations of Italian young people’s style trends and bodily practices in films, TV programmes and teen magazines from 1958 to 1975. Her current research explores self-representations of contemporary Italian youth on the video-sharing platform YouTube. Her latest article, ‘Shorn capelloni: Hair and young masculinities in the Italian media, 1965–1967’, was published in the journal Modern Italy.
