Cecília Mello

Cecília Mello is a professor of film at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Her research focuses on issues of audio-visual realism, cinema and urban spaces and intermediality – with an emphasis on Chinese and British cinemas. She is the author of The Cinema of Jia Zhangke: Realism and Memory in Chinese Film (Bloomsbury, 2019). Her edited and co-edited books include Realism and the Audiovisual Media (with Lúcia Nagib, Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) and Chinese Film in the Twenty-First Century: Movements, Genres, Intermedia (with Corey Schultz, Routledge, 2024).
