Charles Conaway
Charles Conaway is an assistant professor of English at the University of Southern Indiana. His research interests focus on the ‘afterlives’ of Shakespeare, including adaptations and appropriations of the plays on film, in the theatre and in popular music. He has published articles on adaptations of the plays from the restoration and the eighteenth century as well as essays that explore the circulation of characters and themes from the plays in modern rock and roll subcultures, including goth, punk and alternative rock. More recently, he has begun work on a series of papers exploring various approaches to teaching Shakespeare in relation to the plays’ receptions in modern popular culture.
