Charlie Bramley
Charlie Bramley is an active researcher in the fields of popular music studies, popular music education and improvisation studies. He earned his Ph.D. in 2016 from Newcastle University. His research is concerned with examining the potentialities that lie at the intersection between improvisation and popular music, in particular practices that destabilise the perceived boundaries between spontaneity and fixity. More broadly, he is interested in exploring the extent to which improvised models of popular music-making can be utilised as pedagogical techniques for widening participation in music-making, through community projects and educational interventions.
