Cheng-Chu Weng

Dr Cheng-Chu Weng is an assistant professor with the Department of Fine Arts, Tainan University of Technology, Taiwan. As a painter and scholar she has a particular research interest and expertise in painting and the expanded field. In her art practice, Weng takes everyday objects and spaces as primary materials and mediums, which includes the invisible and ungraspable elements of light and shadow. Her long-standing practice research is concerned with what she refers to as ‘structures of ambiguity’, and which often draws upon her cultural upbringing in Taiwan and over six years of study in the United Kingdom. She completed a Master in Fine Art at University for the Creative Arts, 2011–12 and Fine Art practice-based Ph.D. at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, 2014–18.
