Cheryl Akner Koler

Cheryl Akner Koler is a professor in theoretical and applied aesthetics at the Industrial Design programme at Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, Sweden. Her research merges aesthetic abstractions of 3-D form and space with haptic perception in the making and performative process. She has been the main applicant of three major artistic research projects funded by the Swedish Research Council that engage cross-, trans- and intra-disciplinary methods that apply embodied aesthetic collaboration to explore themes such as complexity, nano and haptics. Cheryl’s many years of sculpting have shaped her understanding of how tangible experiences can drive creative processes.
