Christopher Lees
Christopher Lees graduated with a BA in modern languages (German and modern Greek) from the University of Birmingham and completed his master’s degree and Ph.D. in linguistics at the University of Athens and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, respectively. He currently works as a lecturer in sociolinguistics at the Hellenic Open University and has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in linguistics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Ioannina. His research interests focus on sociolinguistics with a particular interest in language, identity and the relationship between sociolinguistics and translation; pragmatics, and discourse analysis. In 2022, Christopher completed a postdoctoral research project funded by Greece’s State Scholarship (IKY), which looked into the sociolinguistic aspects of translated texts in Thessaloniki’s public spaces.
