Claire C. Robison

Claire C. Robison is an ethnographer and historian of South Asian religions with specializations in Hindu and Islamic traditions. Her research combines historical and textual analysis with the study of living communities in contemporary India. Her current project, a book manuscript entitled Becoming Religious Again: Belief, Culture, and Identity in Urban India, explores the effects of globalization and urbanization on Hindu identity in the western Indian megacity of Mumbai. She is a lecturer of South Asian religions in the Religious Studies Department at the University of Pittsburgh.
