Claire Dean
Claire Dean lives in the north of England. Her short stories are widely published and have been selected for anthologies including The Best British Short Stories (Salt, 2011, 2014 and 2017), Year’s Best Weird Fiction (Undertow, 2018) and The Best Horror of the Year (Nightshade, 2013). Nightjar Press published Into the Penny Arcade (2012), Marionettes (2012), Bremen (2017), The Unwish (2017) and Middleton Sands (2021) as limited-edition chapbooks. Her first collection, The Museum of Shadows and Reflections (2016) was published by Papaveria Press. Claire’s Ph.D. focused on materials and technologies for environmental storymaking, and having retrained as a conservator, she continues to explore materials and sustainability while working in archives.
