Clare Johnson

Clare Johnson is an associate professor of art and design at the University of the West of England, where she teaches visual culture. Her primary research interests are in feminist art history and maternal representations in art and popular culture. She has published on the works of Tracey Emin, Vanessa Beecroft, Adrian Howells, Eleanor Antin, Carolee Schneemann, Yoko Ono, Marina Abramovic, Eti Wade and Lena Simic amongst others. Clare is the author of Femininity, Time and Feminist Art (Palgrave MacMillan, 2013) and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Gender Studies.
