Claudia Gronemann is a full professor of romance studies at the University of Mannheim. Her research and teaching are focused on French, Francophone, Spanish and Latin American literatures and film. She holds a Ph.D. in French studies (Postmoderne, postkoloniale Konzepte der Autobiographie in der französischen und maghrebinischen Literatur, Olms, 2002). Her second book is a sound study on gender in Spanish Enlightenment texts, Polyphone Aufklärung: zur Textualität und Performativität der spanischen Geschlechterdebatten im 18. Jahrhundert (Iberoamericana, 2013). She (co-)edited thirteen books, including Le corps à l’épreuve du genre dans la littérature, le cinéma et le blogue maghrébins de langue française (with Sonia Fitouri, Université de Tunis, 2018); Masculinités maghrébines: Conceptions littéraires et cinématographiques du masculin (Brill, 2017) and Scènes des genres au Maghreb: Masculinités, critique queer et espaces du féminin/masculin (with Wilfried Pasquier, Rodopi, 2013). Her main research interests are gender theory, history of the body and emotions, autobiography/autofiction and authorship.
