Cristina Ponte
Cristina Ponte (Ph.D. in Journalism Studies) lectures in Journalism, Communication and Children & Media Studies. Leading the Portuguese team of the EU Kids Online project, she is also co-ordinating the International Project on Digital Inclusion and Participation with the University of Texas. Her funded Project Children and Young People in the news (2005–07) updates her previous research on media representation of children (1970–2000) and includes children and young people’s perspectives on the news. Coming from Education and Media Studies, she worked in the Portuguese research team of Sesame Street, the RTP–CTW co-production (1989–93), and in the first national project of using computers in the classroom (1985–89). She is the co-editor of Media & Jornalismo, a journal from the Media & Journalism Research Centre (CIMJ).
