Cynthia Schulz

Cynthia recently graduated from her MA film studies at Kingston University London and her work focuses primarily on German philosophy, environmentalism, feminism, queer theory and experimental cinema. Her master’s thesis ‘Animated environmentalism: An exploration of Hayao Miyazaki’s ecophilosophy’, discusses East Asian animation cinema in relation to German ecophilosophical thought, ecofeminism and queer ecology. She has also introduced her ideas through her article ‘“The earth speaks to all of us”: Queer ecology in Miyazaki’s Castle in the Sky (1986)’ as a contribution to the LiFE 2020 conference. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. extending her research into video game philosophy.
