Damian Gascoigne
Damian Gascoigne is an animation filmmaker and educator. In a career spanning nearly 30 years, he has created a significant body of short films, commercials, performance animations and installations for gallery spaces. His films have been nominated in competition at major animation festivals from Annecy, the British Animation Awards, Hiroshima and Seoul, to Zagreb. His creative practice now focuses exclusively on fine art animation, fusing wild, hand-drawn imagery with digital technology to create a uniquely personal aesthetic. His research focuses on materiality and the survival of hand drawing in the digital era, exploring gesture, imperfection and accident in drawing and the development of a remix culture for animation practice.
