Daniel Turner

Dan is a Ph.D. candidate in the AudioLab, Department of Electronic Engineering, University of York, York, United Kingdom. His research explores the challenges presented by sound design for immersive media experiences and how machine learning could be used in an assistive capacity. Prior to undertaking his Ph.D., Dan graduated from the University of Derby, Derby, United Kingdom, with a first class BA (Hons) in popular music with music technology (2012) and an M.Sc. in audio engineering with distinction (2018). He also holds a PGCE in post compulsory education (2015) from Canterbury Christ Church University, Canterbury, United Kingdom, and previously taught audio production at further education colleges. His work is funded by an EPSRC iCASE studentship and is in partnership with BBC Research and Development. He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society.
