David Chandler

David Chandler is a professor in the English Department at Doshisha University, Kyoto, where he has been teaching since 2002. Prior to that, he was a visiting lecturer at Kyoto University, having obtained his M.Phil. and D.Phil. degrees from the University of Oxford. He has published extensively on British literature and culture of the period from 1780 to 1850. He is particularly interested in focusing on forgotten writers and texts which have been written out of standard accounts of that period. His articles have appeared in such journals as the Review of English Studies, Essays in Criticism, Studies in Biography, The Dickensian, the Wordsworth Circle, the Charles Lamb Bulletin, Notes and Queries, English Language Notes and Symbiosis.
