David Landes

David Landes is assistant professor of rhetoric, media and composition at the American University of Beirut and director of the communication skills programme in the Department of English. This article grew out of his doctoral dissertation, ‘The attention situation: A rhetorical theory of attention for mediated communication’, which received The Harold A. Innis Award for Outstanding Dissertation in the field of media ecology. McLuhan’s theory of attention will be part of his upcoming book on attention literacy for future technologies.
