David Toohey

David Toohey is an associate professor at the Nagoya University Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences in Nagoya, Japan. His current research is about the aesthetic politics of environmentalism from people outside of mainstream Euro-American perspectives. This research analyses how these viewpoints are expressed in cinematic, written and visual arts. Toohey’s work mixes concepts from the arts into philosophical analysis. His related work on nuclear war and nuclear power has been published in Asian Cultural Studies and The International Journal of Peace Studies. He has published a book length analysis about immigrant cinema and Deleuzian film analysis entitled Borderlands Media: Cinema and Literature as Opposition to the Oppression of Immigrants (Lexington Books, 2012).
