Debarun Sarkar

Debarun Sarkar is an independent researcher and writer based in India. His work traverses the fields of anthropology/geography/sociology and has been concerned with interrogating contemporary socio-technical systems and material-semiotic configurations. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Sociology, University of Mumbai where his dissertation intervened in the scalar debate while being empirically concerned with New Town, West Bengal. As a research associate at Vidyashilp University, he is working on a project on ‘Learning analytics in higher education in India’. As an independent researcher, he is currently a co-PI on an auditing AI project funded by Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab, University of Notre Dame.
