Deborah Howard

Deborah Howard is associate professor of drawing and the head of the Painting Department at the University of Denver. She received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has exhibited her art throughout the United States and in Florence, Italy at SACI, and has lectured in numerous settings including Renmin University in Bejing. Her project, Portraits of Child Holocaust Survivors, includes 25 drawings of Jewish survivors from Denver, Chicago and Los Angeles. The project has been exhibited at universities and art centres and four of the portraits are in the Holocaust Art Museum at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem, Israel. In 2017, she exhibited her project, Migration and Memory, at the Jewish Museum in the Venetian Ghetto. Professor Howard currently creates installations combining wall drawings, paintings, printed silk and shoes cast in glass, aluminium and iron.
