Dennis Doty
Dennis Doty was born in the United States in 1983 and immediately showed an interest in art. Doty’s educational pursuit in the fine arts started when he graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2005 with a BFA from the Interdisciplinary Arts Department. He immediately started his Master’s studies at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Doty completed his MFA degree in 2007, with an emphasis on painting and new media. In 2009, he started exploring the potentials of stereoscopic imaging and how it could be used in conjunction with contemporary painting practices. His Interlaced Fluctuations series consists of two forms of art: stereoscopic video paintings and still compositions. The proximity of the animated works next to the static works in the same gallery space allows the viewer to take insights from the videos and relate them to the still compositions. Beginning in January 2016, Doty started a four-month artist’s residence at the Cite International des Arts in Paris, where he further developed his stereoscopic work and another type of artwork that he started exploring in 2015: projection mapping.
