Dervla Zaynab Shannahan
Dervla Shannahan has a background in Islamic and gender studies, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Goldsmiths University, London. She has published on a range of subjects related to Muslim communities, gender and religious practice. Her most recent research explored women’s mosque experiences in the United Kingdom, particularly around the themes of inclusivity and access (available in the Routledge collection Studying Islam in Practice (2014), and the Journal of Contemporary Islam (2013)). She is a founding member of the Inclusive Mosque Initiative (www.inclusivemosqueinitiative) and is a trainee  psychotherapist.
