DOROTHY CHANSKY
Dorothy Chansky is the author of Composing Ourselves: The Little Theatre Movement and the American Audience (Southern Illinois University Press, 2004). Her articles have appeared in Theatre Journal, TDR, Text and Performance Quarterly, Theatre History Studies, Theatre Topics, Women and Performance, and The Journal of American Drama and Theatre. She is the editor of Theatre Annual: A Journal of Performance Studies and a past book review editor of Theatre Journal. She writes theatre criticism for New York Theatre Wire (www.nytheatre-wire. com); her reviews have also appeared in Theatre Journal, Theatre Survey, and TDR. She is associate professor at Texas Tech University in the Department of Theatre and Dance, where she is head of History/Theory/Criticism. Dorothy was a professional actress in New York City for seven years. She wrote and produced The Brooklyn Bridge, a musical about the building of the bridge, to critical acclaim.
