Dragan Stavljanin

Dragan Stavljanin is a journalist with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Balkan service (RFE/RL) in Prague. Dragan earned his Ph.D. from the University of Belgrade. His Ph.D. thesis is entitled ‘Democracy and the media in the era of globalization – case studies: the CNN effect and whether citizen journalism leads to the “Death of the Author”’. Dragan is also the author of numerous scientific studies and policy analyses on the topics of media, democracy and frozen ethnic conflicts, including: The Belated and Bedeviled Media Transition in Serbia (with Rade Veljanovski); Liberal and Radical Media Narratives – Between Autonomy and Control; Elusive Truth and Objectivity as ‘Strategic Ritual’; Communicative Capitalism – Communication Without Communicability. He has also written two books: A Cold Peace: Caucasus and Kosovo and The ‘Balkanization of Internet’ and the ‘Death’ of Journalist: Towards Post-Internet and Post-Journalism (in Serbian).
