Ebba Koch

Ebba Koch has taught at the universities of Vienna, Oxford, and Harvard; she specializes in the architecture, art, and culture of the Great Mughals of South Asia and their artistic connections to Central Asia, Iran, and Europe. Koch’s numerous publications include Mughal Architecture: An Outline of Its History and Development (Primus Books, 2014 [3rd edition]), Mughal Art and Imperial Ideology (OUP India, 2001) and The Complete Taj Mahal and the Riverfront Gardens of Agra (Thames & Hudson, 2006). Presently, she is working with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture on a site museum for Humayun’s Tomb and has completed an accompanying book entitled The Planetary King: Humayun Padshah: Inventor and Visionary on then Mughal Throne (Mapin, 2022) for its permanent exhibition.
