Ebru Tuncer Boon
Ebru Tuncer Boon received her Master’s degree from Ohio University and her Doctorate from the University of Florida. Currently she is an Assistant Professor at Yeni Yüzyil University, Performing Arts Department (Theatre), in Istanbul, Turkey, where she is also the Director of the Social Sciences Institute. She teaches courses at the interface of music and anthropology. Her research interests include world music, community music, the musical body and critical pedagogy. Her work has been published in the International Journal of Music Education, Visions of Research in Music Education and the Asia-Pacific Journal for Arts Education. She has a forthcoming book with a CD titled ‘Fun Songs with Latin Styles’, which offers a unique approach to different musical styles that can be taught with familiar Turkish songs.
